TRUCK SALES * UK - Heron Foods invests in fridge-bodied Volvo rigids

Hull,EN,UK -Transport Engineer, by John Challen -7 Dec 2010: -- Four Volvo FE-300 rigids, with Solomon fridge bodies, have been added to the Heron Foods fleet that services 160 stores in the midlands and the north of England... Heron Foods invests in fridge bodied Volvo rigids. The 6x2 chassis trucks, are the first Volvos in Heron's 36-strong fleet... The company's adds that while it is too early to look at fuel returns, the initial signs are good. "It's been a change for our drivers too, and they have taken to these new Volvos very well" ...


* UK - Coca-Cola beats London LEZ rules with Eminox technology

London,UK -Tranport Engineer, by Brian Tinham -6 Dec 2010: -- Coca-Cola Enterprises is retrofitting Eminox CRT (continuously regenerating trap) technology to cut emissions from its standby city delivery vehicle fleet in the face of London's LEZ rules... The firm, which handles manufacturing and distribution of Coca-Cola brands in the UK had identified four Iveco Stralis trucks that needed upgrading to meet the upcoming Low Emission Zone Phase 4 requirements... These set a tougher standard of Euro 4 particulate matter for trucks over 3.5 tonnes from January 2012. Eminox's new London Service Centre is currently upgrading the trucks ahead of the peak holiday season...



* UK - MAN TGX grows transport operation for RA Meredith


Gloucester,UK -Transport Engineer, by Brian Tinham -30 Nov 2010: -- Ornamental plant grower and distributor RA Meredith & Son has taken delivery of 10 MAN TGX 26.440BLS 6x2 tractor units with XLX cabs... The in Gloucester-based firm says it's now focusing on in-house transport for its nursery, having previously relied on a short term rental fleet... Transport manager Gary Counsell explains that to stay green and VOSA compliant, the new fleet has been equipped with MAN EcoStyle driver performance monitoring and MAN Fleet Management tool...
