REST AREAS * Australia - More rest areas announced for the Bruce Highway

Brisbane,Queensland,Australia -ATA Friday Facts -3 Dec 2010: -- Queensland truck drivers on the Bruce Highway will soon have more safe places take rest breaks after the Australian Government provided funding to build new and upgrade existing rest areas... As part the Government’s Bruce Highway Safety Package, $25 million has been allocated to build 25 new rest areas, upgrade a number of existing sites and lay audible edge line markings... Construction work will commence soon, with the new rest areas to be progressively opened over the next two to three years... The locations were chosen to maximise safety outcomes and followed detailed strategic planning and assessment by Queensland Main Roads and the trucking industry...
