2011 Scion FT-S Concept

2011 Scion FT-S Concept

Scion has launched a new web page announcing the debut of a new concept car at the New York Auto Show. There’s even a countdown on the page, ticking off when the grand debut will take place. The company hasn’t said much about the future concept - besides the fact that it opens a "new dimension" - but we believe it is actually the Scion version of the recently launched Toyota FT-86 II Concept.
Now, we know we have already seen two concepts- FT-86 and FT-86 II - for this vehicle, but it looks like we are going to be seeing one more under the Scion badge. It’s rumored to be called the FT-S and it won’t go into production until Toyota finally brings their production version later this year at the Tokyo Motor Show.
The FT-86 production version will be powered by a 2.5-liter boxer-four engine that produces 305 HP - an engine shared with the Subaru FT-86.

Now here in New York 2011, Scion has taken the wraps off of its FR-S concept, a sexy little number that rides on this same platform. Scion FR-S concept, which stands for “front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sport,” (or “friggin’ really sweet,” according to Jack Hollis, Scion’s vice president) is the automaker’s homage to the infamous AE-86 Corolla – a car that was highly praised for its lightweight body and superb balance without having to churn out a ton of power. Under the hood is a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter Boxer flat-four mated to either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.
The Scion FT-S rides on sharp 20-inch wheels, hiding an absolutely monstrous set of 18-inch carbon ceramic brake rotors that are fixed to the wheels like a motorcycle. Don’t count on those making production. Let,s see 2011 The Scion FR-S concept at 2011 New York Auto Show picture
