Last year, the European Commission issued a mandate to the European standardisation bodies (CENELEC, CEN and ETSI) to develop a common European solution for electric vehicle charging – so that charging facilities are not only safe, but also interoperable with electricity supply systems... Issues will range from the straightforward – defining and enforcing common charging connector, for example – to more complex matters, such as ensuring that the equipment causes no electro-magnetic interference, or disturbance to the electricity supply grid...
